Everyone wants as many followers as they can get. But do you really?

Facebook's redesigned homepage provides brands with the same level of interaction that user have among their friends, yet only a few shining popular brands have truly leveraged Facebook's fan base.

It should be obvious to any business owner that thousands of fans can create an extremely effective promotional channel but can you actually take action to drive more fans or is just a natual evolution?  

Large companies like Coca-Cola will have fans that set-up pages for them and those pages can often grow to milions of users, but unfortunately small to mid-sized businesses can't just set-up a page and let the people do the rest.

Instead. lesser known brands need to invest heavily in brand development and leverage the various social media channels available to them to interact directly with their followers, fans and customers. 

The measure of success with any social media campaign is not whether you attracted 3,000 fans or 3 million, but whether you've attracted a large number of targeted fans who are loyal and will convert to the final sale.

What does it mean to "Like" a Page?

When you click "Like" on a Page, in an advertisement, or on content off of Facebook, you are making a connection. The connection will be displayed in your profile and on your Wall and your friends may receive a News Feed story about the connection. You may be displayed on the Page you connected to, in advertisements about that Page, or in social plugins next to the content you like. The Page may also post content into your News Feed or send you messages. You may also share this connection with applications on the Facebook Platform.

You always have control over your connections. You can unlike most content immediately, manage your connections on your profile, and restrict who you share your connections with in your privacy settings.

Making a connection with a targeted user, is organic and leads to direct communication with  your customer and the final sale.

Tuesdays Facebook Tip How to Manage Photos at Top of Profile

Tuesday Facebook tip:  

How do those photos appear in the boxes at the top of my profile? 

First of all you have to tag yourself in the pictures.

•     You can do this when you are uploading your pics, or clicking on a pic and tagging it with your name.
•     Other people may tag you in their photo albums as well, and that maybe why there are pics there you don't have in your albums.

If there are pics that you don't want up there you can delete them:

•     Simply click on the box and in the upper right hand corner an "x" appears
•     Click on the x and that picture won't ever appear again at the top. It will remain in your photo library.
